The problem with waking up to tweak your blog at 4 in the morning is that you don’t keep notes. When I wake up a second time, I’ll try reconstructing what I did in the Wiki.

Here’s my attempt at it for now.

I decided that if I wanted to tweak my theme, I wanted to deal with a more basic-looking one than paper. So I switched to Alpine.

From there, the next order of business was to get the familiar look of TAONAW: the cream-beige-like background color, completed with the blood-red title. There are also the fonts, but at that point, I didn’t feel like dealing with loading them from Google. I kind of like the simpler look anyway.

Then it was time to deal with the bigger headache: changing the theme’s date and time to a nice, sane ISO/24 format. Ah, that meant it was time to deal with Hugo yet again: exactly what I don’t want to do with my time blogging on Micro.blog. But I whined about this enough already.

Each theme is different, so while I knew what I was looking for, I didn’t know exactly where. Don’t ask me how my insomniac-5-in-the-morning brain (I was working on the CSS for a while) figured it out because I have no idea, but I found it. Judging from the .txt clutter on my desktop, my hasty last-second saves of the original template code before I messed things up, I was winging it.

So here we are.

I need to work on the colors more and tweak fonts and spaces, but I think it’s time to call it. When I wake up from brainstorming a new tech project like this, it means it’s going to stay. Unlike Jack, my blogging companion on this particular journey, I think I’m adopting Micro.blog as a permanent blogging solution. This here will be the place for my vents and - excuse the term, but it’s accurate - mind farts; the Wiki will remain the “serious” place to store knowledge I get the chance to chew on.

Between these two, I think I have my writing covered. I will start the process of transferring some posts from my old blog over, but there’s no rush. I’m leaving it as is for now. For new content, this is the place.

That’s all I’ve got right now. I’m happy it’s early Saturday, and I can wake up in a few hours and make myself a nice fresh cup of coffee.
